Uganda
The beautiful country is known as the “Pearl of Africa,” but fighting continues between government forces and the rebel LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army). The northern part of the country, the stronghold of the LRA, is so insecure so that even Ugandans do not come in this area.
In the Gulu region alone, a district in the north of the country, more than 450,000 people have been forced to refuge in about 60 refugee camps scattered throughout the country.
Uganda was in vibrant time as the presidential elections were about to take place, including the capital Kampala.
Here in Gulu region, however, time seemed to be passing so slowly and cruelly, as if we are in a different country.
ウガンダ
「アフリカの真珠」といわれるその美しい国では現在も政府軍と反政府軍LRA（神の抵抗軍）との間で戦闘が継続。「神の抵抗軍」の拠点となっている北部は治安が悪いため、ウガンダ国民でさえあまり足を踏み入れられない。
その北部の一県、グル地方だけでも約60箇所の難民キャンプが点在し、45万人以上の人々が避難生活を余儀なくされている。
大統領選挙をひかえたウガンダでは、首都カンパラをはじめ国全体が活発に動いていた。
だがここではまるで違う国ではないかと思うほど時間はゆっくりと、そして残酷に流れている。
